This policy explains how InsightfyZim (trading as Roja Scout) collects, uses, and protects your personal data in compliance with the Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:12] of Zimbabwe and Section 57 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Right to Privacy).

What Data We Collect

• Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a hashed value - never in plain text).
• Profile Data: Profile photo, bio, preferences, and any verification documents you submit.
• Listing Data: Property details, photos, location coordinates, and the contact information you publish.
• Communication Data: Messages and enquiries sent between users through the platform inbox.
• Payment Data: Transaction history and payment method references. Full card details are handled by our payment processor - we never store raw card numbers.
• Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages viewed - used to keep the platform secure and improve performance.
• Cookies & Tracking: As described in the Cookie Policy below.

How We Use Your Data

• To operate and maintain the Roja Scout platform and all its features.
• To match property seekers with advertisers and facilitate enquiries.
• To process subscriptions and verify payments.
• To send service communications (account notices, receipts, security alerts).
• To send marketing messages - only where you have given explicit consent.
• To improve the platform through analytics and user feedback.
• To detect and prevent fraud, fake listings, and abuse.
• To comply with our legal obligations under Zimbabwean law.

Legal Basis for Processing

• Contractual necessity - to fulfil our Terms and Conditions and provide the service you signed up for.
• Consent - for marketing communications and non-essential cookies, where you have given explicit permission.
• Legitimate interests - to detect fraud, improve services, and ensure platform security.
• Legal obligation - to comply with Zimbabwean law and any lawful regulatory demands.

Your Rights Under the Data Protection Act

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only in the following limited circumstances:

• Other Users: Only the information you have chosen to make public on your profile or listing.
• Service Providers: Trusted third parties such as payment processors and hosting services, bound by data processing agreements.
• Legal Authorities: When required by a valid court order, warrant, or regulatory instruction under Zimbabwean law.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to equivalent data protection obligations.

Data Security & Retention

We use encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your data. Active accounts are retained as long as your account exists. Deleted accounts are purged after 90 days, except where retention is required by law for dispute resolution or fraud prevention.

Roja Scout is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities, in accordance with Section 83 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Rights of Persons with Disabilities) and international WCAG 2.1 standards.

Our Commitment

• We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across all pages and features.
• We provide descriptive alt-text for all platform-generated images and visual elements.
• All core features are navigable by keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
• Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text.
• We conduct periodic accessibility audits and act on findings promptly.

Accessibility Features

• Screen reader support: Semantic HTML and ARIA labels are used throughout the platform.
• Scalable text: The interface respects browser font-size preferences and zoom settings.
• Consistent navigation: Menus, headings, and interactive elements follow predictable patterns.
• Error identification: Form errors are clearly labelled and associated with their input fields.
• Focus indicators: Visible focus rings are maintained for all interactive elements.

Known Limitations

• Legacy sections of the platform are being progressively brought up to standard.
• Some third-party widgets (e.g., map embeds, payment frames) are subject to their providers' accessibility implementations.

Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter a barrier that prevents you from using any feature, please let us know. We aim to respond within 5 business days and resolve issues as a priority.

We require all third-party providers to uphold data protection standards consistent with Zimbabwean law.

Cookie Lifespan

• Session cookies - deleted automatically when you close your browser.
• Persistent cookies - stored on your device for up to 12 months, or until you clear them.
